History Of AI Fashion-

At least since the first century BCE, humans have been intrigued by the possibility of creating machines that mimic the human brain. In modern times, the term artificial intelligence was coined in 1955 by John McCarthy. In 1956, McCarthy and others organized a conference titled the “Dartmouth Summer Research Project on Artificial Intelligence.” This beginning led to the creation of machine learning, deep learning, predictive analytics, and now to prescriptive analytics. It also gave rise to a whole new field of study, data science.

What Is AI?

Artificial intelligence (AI) is the basis for mimicking human intelligence processes through the creation and application of algorithms built into a dynamic computing environment. Stated simply, AI is trying to make computers think and act like humans.

Achieving this end requires three key components:

•Computational systems

•Data and data management

•Advanced AI algorithms (code).

How AI is helping Fashion industry?

AI helps nearly all parties in the fashion ecosystem to solve the problems. Applications help both customers and manufacturers sort out the fit situation, which will make shoppers happier and reduce the industry’s environmental impact. Designers use AI to create fabrics and garments; consulting firms use it to predict trends for their manufacturing clients.

AI can collect, process, and draw insights from all sorts of data, from social-media images to bodily functions such as heart rates and perspiration.

Difference between AI and Machine learning-

Machine learning, "is all about taking in data, learning from what's out there, and giving us an output based on what we are looking for." Actually, in the age of digitalization, AI and machine learning (ML) based technologies in the fashion industry are providing an automated solution to manufacturers helping them to leverage the intelligence of AI into fashion and exhaust the best possibilities into their field. Machine learning is a specific form of AI that enables computers to learn and grow as they’re introduced to data-based scenarios. This form of AI is rooted in data science and is far more effective in many areas than traditional AI approaches.

While AI and machine learning are related, they are distinct specialisations: Machine learning is part of AI, but not all AI consists of machine learning. Still, both disciplines offer promising career opportunities, with AI and machine learning jobs poised for rapid growth.

Today, the amount of data that is generated, by both humans and machines, far outpaces humans’ ability to absorb, interpret, and make complex decisions based on that data. Artificial intelligence forms the basis for all computer learning and is the future of all complex decision making. As an example, most humans can figure out how to not lose at tic-tac-toe (noughts and crosses), even though there are 255,168 unique moves, of which 46,080 end in a draw. Far fewer folks would be considered grand champions of checkers, with more than 500 x 1018 or 500 quintillion, different potential moves. Computers are extremely efficient at calculating these combinations and permutations to arrive at the best decision. AI (and its logical evolution of machine learning) and deep learning are the foundational future of business decision makiAI in fashion is changing this industry by playing a crucial role in the various key divisions. From design to manufacturing, logistic supply chain and marketing, AI in fashion is playing a big role in transforming this industry.

"We are at the very early phases of this and it’s been mind-blowing already,” said Hussain Almossawi, a designer and CGI (computer-generated imagery) artist based in New York City. “If that tells us anything, it’s that there is way more to come.” Machine learning, he added, “is all about taking in data, learning from what’s out there, and giving us an output based on what we are looking for.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) in fashion is changing this industry by playing a crucial role in the various key divisions. From design to manufacturing, logistic supply chain and marketing, AI in fashion is playing a big role in transforming this industry.

The design and patterns with the right colour combination are the key points to designing a costume to make it attractive to the customers. AI can detect the new trends with demand in projecting the new trend reducing the forecasting error.

AI fashion in today's time-

Trends in the fashion industry change very fast with new designs or patterns coming every day in the market. Designers need to keep pacing with new styles. And AI algorithms can analyse designs through images to copy popular styles.

And after analyzing the data set of designer clothes and AI uses such data to see what does and does not sell well in the markets and create or recommend designers to build and launch a completely new design in the market.

AI and machine learning in retail are also providing an automated solution to monitor the customer’s activities while shopping and visualise their sentiments to know what kind of products they prefer to buy and what they ignore.

In today’s world, technology has changed how everything works, and all industries including the fashion retail industry are taking advantage from it. Artificial intelligence (AI) is the process of analyzing data, identifying patterns, and performing tasks in an automated manner, which would otherwise require human intervention. Artificial intelligence has had great applications in the fashion retail industry and is changing all aspects of this industry which always tends to look forward and everyone is in a race to create the next trend. The easy availability of big data is one of the main reasons driving this change.

The rapid improvements brought to the online fashion retail industry by technology have led to a race amongst the fashion industry leaders, who are constantly trying to improve their systems and make the best use of the technology. Several AI startups are working in a close-knit manner with the fashion industry, to identify upcoming trends, automate repetitive tasks that are often major cash burners, while working on making the platform truly intuitive.

Increasingly, fashion brands are using AI and machine learning to maximize users’ shopping experience, improve the efficiency of sales systems through intelligent automation, and enhance the sales processes using predictive analytics and guided sales processes.

AI systems are being used to spot defects in fabric and ensure that the colours of the finished textile match with the originally designed colours. AI technologies such as computer vision technologies are allowing quality assurance processes to be more streamlined. Whereas it used to be that only ecommerce giants such as Amazon and Walmart used machine learning algorithms to figure out sales trends, now small retailers are also leveraging machine learning to understand this dynamic fashion market, which may provide them a better chance to succeed.

Most companies in the fashion sector rely on clothing designs made manually. However, creative AI can be an effective way to take over in situations like the pandemic when people cannot work. AI-enabled tools can create clothing designs by using data such as images from the brand’s previous offerings or from other designers, data regarding customers’ tastes (colour and style choices), and current fashion trends.

For example, the German fashion platform Zalando and Google created project Muze, which uses machine learning to create fashion designs. The model gathers data regarding customers’ favourite textures, colours, and style preferences by asking a series of questions to create clothing designs.

“There’s no one thing that defines AI. It’s more like a tapestry of modern intelligent technologies knit together in a strategic  fashion that can then uplift and create a knowledge base that is automated – where you can extrapolate findings from there.”

AI can help overcome these ethical challenges by enabling automation. For instance, robotics can help automate risky or error-prone tasks in a manufacturing facility to decrease workload and improve worker safety. Companies like Sewbo and Softwear are revolutionizing clothing production by developing automated garment-producing machinery.

Moreover, computer vision enabled with AI also has various applications in fashion production, including efficient quality assurance and predictive maintenance of equipment which reduces the downtime of the machines and ensures operational continuity.

South Korea-based Zepeto has nearly a quarter of a billion users, and its app allows people to create avatars, or digital representations of themselves. But avatars need clothes, and more than 1.6 billion virtual fashion itemshave been sold on Zepeto, the BBC reported.

Zepeto has partnerships that feature digital representations of clothes from Ralph Lauren and Gucci. And fashion has been the focus in other portions of the metaverse. Virtual land in the Fashion District on Decentraland recently sold for $2.4 million.

The AI Fashion Brands-

From business operations to e-commerce and marketing, every area in a fashion business can benefit from AI. This is evidenced by popular fashion brands like Zara, H&M, Dior, Macy's, Forever 21, Adidas and Nike, who all uses AI in their business models like, its competitor, the Spanish fashion outfitter Zara, has turned to artificial intelligence to further its goals. The company uses it in a number of ways, including employing AI robots to fetch requested orders for customers using its Buy Online, Pick-Up in Store (BOPIS) or Click and Collect options. Most luxury brands have a wealth of information available on their consumers' behavioural habits which can be collected and processed to acquire, up-sell and cross-sell loyal customers. The objective of companies using AI to build their brand experience for users. By using AI to improve the customer journey, you will boost content performance, understand your audience, and personalize your content for users. Below are seven brands that use AI differently to enhance the customer experience.

In this day and age there are multiple fitness apps, including Under Armor apps that track your fitness, weight loss, and calories. Under Armor has made an app called “Record” which can automatically detect and record your progress 24/7, all by itself. And also many more which includes- Away, Goggle - goggle pixel, Starbucks and also in Retail program/ Mobile App.
